Why join the
Intergenerational Linking Project?

Intergenerational Linking benefits all participants: young people, older people, schools and care homes. It improves confidence, developing understanding and respect between generations and reducing isolation. Intergenerational Linking also strengthens the community through volunteering and increasing connections.

What's involved?

Each participating school is matched with a care home or sheltered living accommodation. You might already have a link or Fair Futures can help you find one. A class in the school is linked with older people who are residents in the care home or sheltered living accommodation and the two groups link by sending letters, cards and things they have made. Members of the linked class visit the care home, sheltered living or community group to take part in practical activities with the older people, supported by Fair Futures. At the end of the academic year, there is a celebration for representatives of the participating groups and an evaluation of the year's intergenerational linking.
